Rand J. Wilson, BS, DVM, MRCVS, DACVP (Clinical Pathology), Recognised Specialist in Exotic Animal Clinical Pathology
Dr. Kaori Davis, DVM, PhD, DACVP, is the Chief Medical Officer at Moichor. She began her veterinary education in Tokyo, Japan, and relocated to the United States in 2011 to pursue a clinical pathology residency at NC State University, achieving board certification in 2014. Following her initial clinical experience as a diagnostic clinical pathologist, Dr. Davis returned to NC State University to earn her PhD in cell biology and comparative medicine, studying equine asthma as a naturally occurring model of human severe asthma.
Dr. Davis further expanded her expertise with training in anatomic and comparative pathology at the prestigious Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. In 2022, she earned dual board certification from the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) in both anatomic and clinical pathology.
Throughout her career, Dr. Davis has demonstrated a profound commitment to diagnostic medicine across a wide variety of species. Her specialized interests and experience in experimental and comparative pathology contribute to her exceptional proficiency in the field.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Davis enjoys traveling, cooking, and baking. At home, she stays busy with three energetic young children, embracing the beautiful chaos they bring to her life.
Dr. Rand J. Wilson, BS, DVM, MRCVS, DACVP, is a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Recognised Specialist in Exotic Animal Clinical Pathology. Dr. Wilson received his Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology in 1984 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, both from Colorado State University. He taught in the Anatomy and Physiology Department at the Colorado State Veterinary School before practicing small animal and emergency medicine/surgery, with an emphasis on avian and exotic animal medicine and surgery, for 9.5 years in California and Colorado.
Dr. Wilson returned to Colorado State University for a combined residency and PhD studies in clinical pathology within the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology. During his veterinary school years, he worked as an assistant to the zoo veterinarian at Wildlife Safari in Oregon for two summers and completed a four-month externship at the Denver Zoo. He became a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2008 and was ACVP Board Certified in Clinical Pathology the same year.
Dr. Wilson has experience in biopharmaceutical research at a private Contract Research Organization in Michigan (2.5 years), and has worked in the United Kingdom for a private diagnostic laboratory and IDEXX as a diagnostic clinical pathologist specializing in exotic animal clinical pathology from 2009 to 2013. He then moved to the United Kingdom to lead and develop large teams of pathologists at private diagnostic laboratories, serving as the Head of Clinical Pathology at CVS-Axiom/Finn Pathologists from 2013 to 2018, and as Director of Pathology at VPG-Synlab (CTDS) from 2018 to 2023. In March 2023, he joined Moichor as the Director of Clinical Pathology.
Dr. Wilson has developed clinical pathology residencies at both CVS and VPG and has trained and mentored many residents to become boarded clinical pathologists. His primary areas of interest include all aspects of avian, reptile, exotic animal, and wildlife pathology, as well as cytology and hematology.
